Jules, three comments:
1. We decided to preannounce after a meeting the evening of Thursday May 29. I was stuck at work until 10:30 that night getting the materials ready to go the next morning.
2. I share your concern over the press attendance. Since this is my event to manage, I'm the right person to get your feedback. I'm trying to decide if we'll include press again next year - I'm leaning against it at the moment.
3. I too thought that, absent the pre-announcement, there were some notable comments made at the meeting that weren't picked up. For instance, and I'm glad you caught it, Andy's "A BILLION CONNECTED COMPUTERS" comment is one I'd like to see become a milestone we pursue over the coming years. Perhaps we, in Intel style, can just use the acronym "BCC" and check back on our progress from time to time.
If you were a long-term holder in Intel, I think we gave some solid views on the world that should make you feel confident. Unfortunately the short-termers always complain that we don't address the crisis du jour in these meetings. That's kind of the point, isn't it?
