OpenTV 1st Qtr pro forma loss flat as sales double
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 26 (Reuters) - OpenTV Corp. (NasdaqNM:OPTV - news), a software maker for interactive television series , on Thursday reported a first quarter pro forma loss of 5 cents a share, equaling pro forma earnings last year on double the revenue.

In a statement, OpenTV said its pro-forma net loss, excluding a one-time marketing cost of $8.4 million, was $3.6 million compared with a pro-forma net loss of $2.4 million, or 5 cents a share, in the same quarter last year.

Including the marketing cost, OpenTV's pro-forma net loss for the quarter ended March 31 was $12.0 million, or 18 cents a share. Quarterly revenues jumped to $22.4 million in from $10.9 million last year.

Financial analysts polled by investment research firm Thomson Financial/First Call had expected the company to generate a loss of 8 cents a share for the quarter.

OpenTV shares ended trading on the Nasdaq exchange up 15 cents at $9.15. The news came after the market closed.
