<For example, govermment controll of major industries provides order and job security in the short run but results in low economic growht rates and relative poverty in the long run.>

How about that government control of the electricity industry in the citadel of cyberspace [California] which is dragging everyone down? It's not just in Europe that serfdom is rampant. Freedom was a short-lived business of limited extent and big government is now consuming all. Americans are 'owned' too and their freedoms are circumscribed as are the Euroserfs'. Heck, slavery and racial segregation have only just been cleared from the USA. Conscription was all the rage in living memory and bodies galore resulted. So take it easy on the Euroserfs, they [and we] are in good company. My 'freedom' is equivalent to a dog leash.

Meanwhile, the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT by Nokia, Ericy and co was just SMS extension. Yawn! SMS is going to be a short-lived fad. It will be supplanted by voice, image and text-rich email using CDMA by QUALCOMM as the carrier and BREW as the application provider, usually on a Q!-driven gadget.

'Thumbpeople' [the Japanese name for SMS and imode people] are not the highest evolutionary state of the human species. Just as nigga-rap, hula hoops, tamagotchi and other teen fads last longer than a mayfly but less time than a rabbit, though they all breed prolifically for a short time, SMS and derivatives are just transient tools on the road to a really rich mobile internet.
