Conservative does not mean maintaining the status quo. It means adhering to certain principles, like the superiority of free markets to the political allocation of resources, or the preferability of keeping government decisions local or state, if kicking things to a federal level in unnecessary........

I remember when I was in school and we got to the lessons on government. The definitions of democrat and republican went something like this:

Democrat: Progressive, in favor of change and improvement.
Republican: Old school, concerned with maintaining the status quo.

As a child I wondered why there would even be republicans... It was obvious which of the parties was the good one. It is no shock, I suppose, that these sort of BS definitions still exist when they get baked into children's minds so early on. Of course, those with courage grew to understand the true difference between the philosophies of the parties. Or at least what they have become. And I am by no means conservative for conservatism's sake. Nor do I reject every notion of the liberal ideal.

I do believe in freedom for freedom's sake.
I believe in hard work for work's sake.
And I will be responsible to no one but myself.

If my life and work can be a benefit to others it is a boon to me.

Status quo... feh.

Who is John Galt?
