Gotta admit, this law school dean, Ms. Sullivan, is a mighty fine mind, but alas, she does seem to side with the losers. I recall the fine and spirited advocacy she engaged in during Al Gore's winning loss. Could she do the same for Corley and all the Linux lust-for-lifers? My guess? Yes. Same deal as with Napster and its star barrister. The legal system simply is not yet ready to embrace the bleeding edge of techological possibility. Too profitless, though not too pointless.
Glad to see the hackers are being segregated from the crackerz these dayz. Easier to determine who needs maximum security. Me? I'm countenancing maximum insecurity. Bring on that brave new world, whirrled to a 4G dervish of devilish delights.
BTW, the DeCSS code ran to a half a K-loc. Seems the studios are in some kinda dark ages when it comes to encryption methodologies. My solution? Have Universal Studios hire Corley and the 2600 crowd to bomb proof DVD. Save everyone a ton of grief. But that would be way too sensible, eh?
