Here's some info on the virus you removed.

I noticed that you said you reinstalled Kernel32.dll. I didn't see any mention of that file in the solutions. They talk about extracting wsock32. I'd try going through the Symantec or Mcafee steps in addition to what you found in newsgroups. Perhaps you deleted some system file that you needed. Have you tried reinstalling your OS? I don't believe SFCer (used with default options) will detect a missing file, just corrupted ones.
