John Hull, I have written several posts on this subject. I might be wrong, but, yes I was suggesting that I thought it would be more fair to the individual investor to make pre-announcements in trading hours. I feel that by the time the news is distributed overnight, it's a little late for the average John Doe to do anything about it. I thought if the news came out during the day and the stock drops like it did, we would have the same chance as the big boys to make our decision to buy more at low prices or to sell some. I have quite a large investment in Intel, in street name, and also recommended the stock to my grown children and they are proud owners of it. Even my grandchildren are owners of Intel, thanks to grandma and granddad. I have been very happy with my investment in Intel and am, in no way, questioning the day to day decisions the company has to make. I am just a little at odds with those announcements after hours. BTW, this is my stand concerning announcements made by any company.
Do you, or the company, feel that the drop in Intel would have been greater than 25 points at one time if the announcement came during the day? Do you feel it could have been an irrational feeding frenzy? I will gladly be enlightend more on this subject, if you care to do so. I do understand the gist of your message, but I am still not quite convinced about the volatility factor concerning those two senarios - during or after hours.
Regards,
