CK the so-called "emerging middle class" of blacks and hispanics is partly myth. For blacks it has been perpetually "emerging" and not quite ever being born. For hispanics I suspect it is more of a reality and emerging at a greater rate. But if economic circumstances were the greatest determining factor of political leanings, why is it that poor whites, of whom I have always read there are many more than blacks, do not vote the same way as poor blacks? In fact, don't they vote just the opposite on the whole?
