Hi JDN, an American may look like any nationality, ethnic group or race. That's one of the beauties of being American. And why Scumbria's comment "look like an American" was an affront to me.
Far too many liberal Democrats see everyone as part of this race, or that race, or this class or that class.
I reject that kind of stereotyping. Further, I believe, it only serves to hold us back from becoming one nation, sharing one vision of the future in alignment with our constitutional values, where our differences are celebrated and truly enjoyed for the gift they bring us.
In rare instances there are cultural examples where America can actually learn from another nation. In the area of acceptance of diversity, I believe we should strive to emulate tiny Mauritius. An island nation which has made amazing progress in bridging cultural differences, while still maintaining individual religious and ethnic identity.
In other words, we don't need to be some kind of shaded color in order to overcome prejudice, all we need to do is value other people for the uniqueness they bring our society.
I congratulate you for having such a beautiful wife! It's a gift many conservatives share. :) |
