XP Will Be Huge, Very Huge
(1) It will become the code base for the entire PC marketplace, for the consumer marketplace, for the business marketplace, for the server marketplace and MSFT will be able to get the industry focused on this single code base.
(2) Every computer user "Will" upgrade. Why, because they will have to. Remember W95 and some people were saying they would not upgrade, well, they did upgrade. They upgraded because many websites & programs, stock quotes etc, would not run on W3.1.
(3) Windows ME was not a revolutionary upgrade so people got the upgrade mostly on new computers, however, Bill Gates said on CNBC last week XP would be the biggest release since W95 & that made up my mind. After all, he is the richest man in the world & for that I respect what he says. The man knows what he is doing. Apple could be in MSFT's position today, after all, they were the first on the market with hardware & software, but they chose to keep their O\S to themselves, while Gates made his O\S available to every PC maker in the world.
