It's the pace and rhythm that surprised me, it is much slower than one imagines.

I think that must vary a lot from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. When I went for jury orientation on Monday, I heard pretty much the same presentation as my previous trips. This time was a bit different in that the judge made a point of saying how different from Court TV it would be. The longest it's ever taken to select a jury was about three hours. And murder trials don't run past a few days. Every trial that I've experienced has been paced like Law and Order, not OJ.

It would be interesting to see how something like OJ would have played out in a different jurisdiction.
