Earlie, I'm as bearish as I can be, but in terms of consumer spending what I see is not as bad as I expected.
People are keep spending as mad. I questioned all friends of mine (mostly in high tech) about their spending habits. Yes, they lost money on stocks, but they still have well paid jobs, so they keep spending. Greenspan is doing very good job in maintaining people's confidence. I thing there is a chance he might be able to pull if off - avoiding prolonged recession. Biggest risk is inflation, especially with energy costs going thru the roof. Another mystery is strength of USD.
We are still waiting for your trip report. I didn't miss it, did I? DO you appreciate that while you were away we maintained you favorite stocks like JNPR, CLS etc in "shortable" positions. -G-
