Very nice to hear from Mr.Khan, particularly for the overall perspective on where we are with company operations. I have to respect a CEO who makes himself personally available to all shareholders in a very public way, and may take him up on that.
I think Mr.Khan is a little modest in describing the state of affairs. Arakis has accomplished more in a short time than Chevron accomplished in 10 years, doing more work and spending less money. He understates his own role and that of his directors in being able to get along with the Sudanese at all levels, unlike Chevron, and to act decisevely when remedial measures were needed.
I respect a company which takes upon itself to help provide medical facilities and a school for the local workers and their families. I respect a company that has the respect of its workers, and all the surrounding peoples.
And what of the war? Nearly all the power-brokers have called for an end to this madness, and the ratification of a deal which gives the South everything they want. In fact, the South will be the main beneficiary, in the short term, from the oil production.
So I look forward to more good news on all fronts.
