I think Intel is scrambling too.

They just licensed NMTC's phase shift technology to utilize for their 0.13 runs

:Numerical Licenses Chip Making Technology to Intel

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Numerical Technologies Inc.(NasdaqNM:NMTC - news), whose products are used by semiconductor makers to build advanced microchips, on Monday said it had licensed its technology to top chip maker Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news)

Shares of San Jose, Calif.-based Numerical closed up $3.25, or 21 percent, to $18.65 in trading on the Nasdaq after reaching a session high of $19.65. The stock is off a 52-week high of $67.31.

The deal, which was valued in the millions of dollars, gives Intel the rights to use Numerical technology, and offers Numerical access to Intel's patents relating to some aspects of semiconductor production.

Numerical's technology and software are used to produce microchips with components smaller than the wavelength of light. Smaller components make faster and more power-efficient semiconductors.

Other companies to use Numerical's technologies are United Microelectronics Corp. (NYSE:UMC - news) and Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (NasdaqNM:VTSS - news)
