PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 2001--Metro One Telecommunications, Inc. (Nasdaq: MTON - news), the leading provider of Enhanced Directory Assistance® and other enhanced telecom services, today reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2001.

Revenue for the first quarter of 2001 climbed to a record $50,216,000, up 69% from 2000 first quarter revenue of $29,711,000, and 5% above the previous record revenue of $47,728,000, generated in the fourth quarter of 2000. Net income for the first quarter was a record $5,003,000, or $0.33 per diluted share, compared with net income of $1,121,000, or $0.09 per diluted share, in the prior year's first quarter.

``This is the twelfth consecutive quarter we have produced record revenue,'' commented Timothy A. Timmins, president and chief executive officer of Metro One. ``This quarter, we continued to realize strong call volume growth while sustaining the gross margin improvements realized in the fourth quarter of 2000. In addition, we have a strong, improved balance sheet with no debt and sufficient cash to fund our short and intermediate term growth needs.''
