I have heard about diner talk, but my grandmother never used it at Perry's Cafe in Biloxi.

Wonder why cowboy coffee is with chicory? I am drinking coffee with chicory as I type - it's what I always drink at home, French Market, in the bright red can, with an illustration of the French Market on the front.

I've got French market coffee cans in almost every room in the house - I use them for pencils, for small tools like scissors, tweezers and x-acto knives, for the children's colored markers, for spare change, under the sinks for scrubbies, out in the garage for furniture stripping solutions, in the pantry to store small amounts of this'n'that that I buy in bulk, like sesame seeds and sea salt (just write what it is on the plastic lid with a Sharpie or wax pencil).

My sister cooks her famous fruit cake in her coffee cans. I should mention that my sister's fruit cake is excellent - full of pineapple and cherries that she candies herself - the coffee can keeps it really moist.

I really prefer Cafe du Monde, in the mustard-yellow can, but French Market is what they sell at the Safeway by my house. I can get Cafe du Monde at Asian markets, the Vietnamese like it. Can isn't as pretty but the coffee has a richer flavor.

So that's my plug for coffee cans - and if you don't need them around the house, please remember to recycle. Thank you.
