And it wasn't a press release, but rather some Reuters' reporter (http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20010423/tc/numerical_intel_dc_2.html)

As Milo also states, "light" has massively varying meanings in different contexts. This is exactly what makes "the wavelength of light" complete nonsense. You simply need to include at least one more word ("the"), but preferably the source of the light as well.
