Louis - Keep up the good work trying to revive this thread. The recent stock pop on the $1 billion investment by Microsoft of Comcast.
The immediate interest in HDTV by cable is not great because they will have to reduce the number of channels they offer to provide it. Eventually though, once it is widely available in broadcast they will have to switch. They may be laggards though. But then they seem to be dragging their heels on any kind of investment (HFC, or even digital cable, internet service/cable modems) and hence microsoft's investment to kick start the equipment buildout. This seems like really good news which is probably more important than the HDTV buildout. Long term though, HDTV provides reason to believe that there will be additional investments necessary to provide demand for GIC's products. Tom
