Hee's another use for 2-lb coffee cans: Slug traps.

Remove the top, bury them in the ground flush to the surface, like a golf cup/hole. Put about two-three inches of beer in the can and overnite any wandering slugs will find it, crawl in and drown. They are crazy for beer. Almost human in that respect. :-)

Choose the location properly. Put it as far away from where you don't want slugs, like the corner of your lot, or if you have one, in the middle of the garden of the neighbor with the ugly attitude about life. This will reinforce his view of the world. :-)

Now, if you are real adventurous you can play Survivor at home. Take those beer-marinated slugs, put them on skewers, fire up the BBQ, voila' shiska-slug! Cook to taste and dip in a light mustard sauce.
