America's chief executive officers continue to eliminate jobs at a record or near-record pace, so apparently they're not quite as optimistic as you are.
The top news story on SI's home page is now Buffett's annual meeting. The story I referred to last night is on CBS MarketWatch's home page (scroll down about half way). I tried to post a link, but it didn't work, for whatever reason. And I couldn't find just a simple text of his remarks anywhere.
Single-digit annual returns on the indexes don't excite me. If that makes me a bear, then so be it.
But there are always opportunities in the market, and hopefully the collective brain power on this thread will identify a few as we go along.
The macro economic picture is bleak. Bleak. That's the subject of the G7 meeting this weekend.
Still, there are a lot of companies out there with good prospects. And I would much rather look for investment ideas now than, say, a year ago.
It's not all bad, and things are likely to slowly, slowly get better as we move into 2002. Just my opinion.
