>Star Scientific (STSI: news, msgs, alerts) flew 136 percent higher on news that Chester, Va., firm has signed a series of multi-year contracts with Brown & Williamson, setting the stage for the company to unveil its hard tobacco lozenge product aimed at adult smokers working in smoke-free environments. The deals call for B&W to continue to purchase at least 15 million pounds of very low-TSNA2 StarCured tobacco lead during each of the next three years from StarScientific. B&W also gets the exclusive right, subject to Star's rights, to purchase and sell Star's ARIVA "cigalett" pellets. B&W will also conduct test marketing and rollout the Advance cigarette, which contains less cancer-causing toxins than conventional products. Shares closed up $1.87 at $3.25.
