re DELL: I heard today that there were layoffs Friday ... ... and in looking for news on such, checked the Austin American-Statesman website (Austin360.com) and came across a coupla message boards sponsored, obviously, by the site and paper ... if of interest to others, here's the direct link to the DELL boards there: austin360.com From what I can tell, hasn't hit the press but I haven't had time to read the paper nor the 'Net until now for about five days. I hear much anecdotal comment these days about DELL ... which is why I'm maintaining puts. More anecdotal evidence on tech in Austin ... have curiously run into to former carorder.com sales rep/customer service/operations managerial types -- all highly educated, skilled and young -- mid-20s - early 30s -- forced to move; rents high; longer (2-3 months) lead time to get another job ... they're scared ... rightfully so. bia
