P4 has three strikes:

1 - Needs more performance, speed insufficient!
2 - Needs more speed, power insufficient!
3 - Needs more power, socket insufficient!

But it's on playground rules where you bat until you get a hit. It'll scale to 10 GHz in its lifetime. OTOH, when is Athlon going to be ready for the glue factory, and none of the horsies in sight yet? Maybe Sanders woke up with something in his bed à la the scene from the Godfather.
