You have a good pulse of what is going on IMO.
This very same cycle took place in the early PC days, the video chip days of early/mid 1990's, and recently DVD ramp. This time I don't think it is any different. Broadband/STB will go the same route...great for you and me(the consumers), but not so great for the stock prices of most players as competition comes from EVERY direction, kills margins and that huge forecasted revenue growth 2years forward goes in the crapper.
