Peter, Roche (RHHBY) has about a total of 8.6M Shares, which are valued at about 8000 Euro each, so the total market cap is a tad less than 70 B Euro of 63B$.
Last time I looked, Roche had about 10B US$ in cash.
Their 59% ownership in DNA is worth 15.8 B US$, so the core business itself is only valued at 37 B$. Quite affordable by todays standards. Of course the family still has control but the recent developments (Share split 1:100) and news from management let me believe that this may change (it certainly has to change if they pursue mergers). A few 100 million $ in fines to IGEN would be no more than a drop in the bucket, IMHO.
