Are you sure the P6 ever ran at 166 Mhz?
I recall 180Mhz and 200Mhz. Maybe 150.


I happened to be sitting right next to the PPro Product Engineering team in Folsom when they got their first silicon for testing. The first silicon actually came in 2 flavors. .65u process and .35u. The .35u was just an experiment and not expected to be productized right away. It worked so well they figured what the hell....

So to answer your question, yes the PPro was originally at 166MHz on .65u process technology.
