"Will ruin email reception in Outlook"
There is a major bug which is not being talked about very much. The Browser itself is fine, although some of the MSN-centric features will probably just be ignored by a lot of people. But if you install you are almost guaranteed to find that all of your messages sent to you from non-Microsoft clients will arrive in Outlook with blank subject lines and no message body. If you use outlook express you will get the message but the subject line will be blank. If the message is sent to you from a microsoft client then it will not be affected. Wait until this big is fixed. You will lose a substantial amount of your email otherwise if you are using a microsoft client to recieve email."

"Save any important email attachments before install"
Bugs I noticed-- I downloaded with only explorer and system tray running (after performing 3 finger salute ctrl/alt/del to other running programs. 1)Save any important email attachments...I had just received a photo prior to downloading IE6 and after, it was gone from the attachment. 2)If your page opens on a photo, you can't hit the space bar to scroll without clicking on the screen...due to the new pop-up photo bar...excelent feature, by the way. 3)Additional hidden links bar beyond the >> on the toolbar seems to take longer to display by a full second, almost thought I miss clicked. Pages do load fast Beyond the minor beta bugs, it is great...a keeper. It would be better if Microsoft would give us several "skins" options...not just toolbar wallpaper, but full skins such as those found on other browsers (NP)."

"Buggy, but has potential."
Be very careful when deciding to install the new IE browser. While the browser itself appears to fairly stable. The underlying code which handles the file management needs to be fixed. I came across three bugs in the 24 time period I used IE6, one of which forced me to uninstall back to IE5.5 Here they are: 1. When using Outlook 2000, any attachments received become scrambled up and show up as att????.TMP files, which of course makes it impossible to open the attachment normally. Even when re-naming the file to try to open the attachment. I switched back to IE5.5 and had the emails resent with the attachments which now can be opened. 2. Some GUI bugs were appearing in Windows Explorer and on the taskbar, improper icons showing and icon transparencies not functioning. Merely an esthetic bug. 3. IE6 would crash slightly more often than 5.5, which is understandable since the browser code still needs some polishing. I would NOT recommend going to IE6 quite yet esp. if you use Office 2000. BTW, you can unistallIE6, just go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and it reverts back to the previous version of IE "

"You will lose your MSN POP3 Email Account"
When one downloaded the last Explorer release, if you had a Pop3 MSN Email account, Microsoft (MS) cancelled your Pop3 account and moved your Email to Hotmail. This was done without your consent, with no undo option. Despite MS’s promises to provide a tool to move former MSN Pop3 users back to their Pop3 servers, MS hasn’t delivered (now promised for this May). Much has been posted regarding MS's underhanded tactics. Below is a blurb and a link to the in depth follow up done by Ed Bott (About.Com – PC Guru) regarding this. WRONGED BY MICROSOFT, ONE MAN FIGHTS BACK...AND WINS! A visitor to the Focus on Windows Forum thought he was just blowing off steam. Instead, his complaints reached top executives at Microsoft, who belatedly decided to honor promises to their customers. Learn how he got his message across, and how you can fight back against Microsoft, too! windows.about.com My questions – has Microsoft learned it’s lesson from all this? Will they post a prominent warning, before the Explorer download starts, that your Pop3 MSN Email account will be moved to Hotmail - so you can cancel the download? Thank you. PS. To late for me, I dumped MSN after they hosed my Pop3 account."

"Great, but does have a few glitches"
I dl'ed this after reading the other commentary with hestitation, but I do have to admit--it is faster and has the exact same format as 5.5 if you don't use the personal bar option (it is simply an extra button sitting beside the home button). The only glitch I've seen so far is that some of my email (especially the ones I use subject-Create message Rules for) is subject-less in the OE6 window, until you open it proper. Of course, this means it's not sorted into the proper folder, but I think I can deal with that. If that's the only problem, then Gates did well! Dee"
