What a weird weekend on SI. Very Hostile, arguments, put downs, all over the place. I remember when I first found SI in 1996, how happy I was to find people willing to talk about the technology behind the stocks and how the weekend was always a time to reflect, dig deeper into whatever you were trying to research or think through or just hang out. I have been online before the Internet and the quality on SI then was the best I had seen. There were many savvy posters, engineers, even people in the investment industry. I found it to be real community trying to help each other. Sadly now, SI seems be largely populated by punks and thugs. Maybe it's the threads I visit. Maybe it's the shorts being pissed off. Maybe it's the longs being driven out of the market. Maybe the engineers and other posters in the industries are worried about losing their jobs. Maybe it's all of that. It's beginning to bother me how much time it takes to weed through the junk, hostility, one-upmanship, rudeness, and general lack of humanity toward each other. What's worse then all the above is I have no idea how to change it.
