Hi Truman and welcome to the thread!

Thanks for your excellent background information on Playmates. No need to apologize for going off-topic, because it's important to know about the competitors of Bandai. Playmates sounds like a good turnaround opportunity if an ADR ever becomes available in the States again.

After a week with my Nano Puppy, I have to (and hate to) say that Playmates has the superior product so far. The screen is easier to see, the buttons are quite a bit easier to use, and the pet requires more interaction. I hope Bandai will have an updated version coming out soon. The one limitation to the Nano Pets is that each game makes only 1 kind of pet. Tamagotchis give you eight different pets in 1 egg.

I still haven't found any GigaPets. Here is a story about the GigaPets introduction at FAO Schwarz in Chicago:

It sounds like Tiger Electronics is going to license the heck out of the GigaPets brand. Bandai better get busy doing the same with the Tamagotchi brand.
