So we have to ask who felt that this story about Kerry is valid news NOW, but it wasn't then.<<

One theory being floated is that Kerry people have encouraged the release of the story now so that it is not a surprise 11th hour scandal in 2004's nomination/election campaign. This way it'll be "old news" that competitors can't use as a weapon.
