This is not the same Tosco refinery that went boom last week. Why are so many refineries catching fire? Tosco Ill. crude unit down after fire Saturday NEW YORK, April 30 (Reuters) - Tosco Corp's (NYSE:TOS - news) 100,000 barrel per day (bpd) crude distillation unit at its Wood River, Ill., refinery was down Monday after a large fire over the weekend, fire fighters and industry sources said. ``They have a 100,000 barrel per day crude unit down,'' said an industry source. The refinery has a total crude distillation capacity of 295,000 bpd. ``They had a large fire Saturday. We responded in the morning and fought it until late into the night,'' said an official at the Wood River Fire Department. Tosco officials were not immediately available for comment. Last week Tosco's first-quarter earnings came in below expectations after outages at its Los Angeles and Trainer, Pa., refineries during that quarter.
