I don't know what companies you are personally familiar with ... I'm very familiar with two Fortune 100s, and besides IT spending, they have cut all direct sales support including advertising and travel to 'zero budget' ... including anything except bare-bones maintenance of existing e-business 'solutions' via the websites. And heads are rolling. Through direct layoff, forced (-g- ... rather, 'normal attritition' in the parlance), etc.

Sales into tech sector fell off a cliff in the Jan-March quarter.

You think replacing existing hardware is a priority for these companies? Or improving the premise intranet and extranet structures?
