Telefonica to invest $2.7 billion in ADSL

Spanish telecoms giant Telefonica said on Tuesday it would invest 500 billion pesetas ($2.71 billion) over the next five years to extend its broadband network in Spain.
....According to company data, Telefonica already has 65,000 ADSL lines in Spain and aims to have one million lines by 2003.

Spanish telecoms group Telefonica said on Friday it had installed more than 50,000 ADSL broadband lines in Spain so far this year as it attempted to speed up the rollout of fast Internet services.

That compared with 50,000 lines installed between March 2000 - when Telefonica began offering ADSL services - and December last year.

YOu read these news spaced by one month and would get the impression that ADSL is the most caleiente thing in Spain. But in fact is: They throw a number (USD 2.7 billion) and then , one month later they throw anothe rnumber 100.000 lines. But read it and you will see that this is the same 65.000 (if this is true is another matter)

Mike in these days of job cuts all depts. inside vendors are trying to show top management they have a survival chance. Hence the Press Releases barrage.

Then, the ZO's of this world go there and sart saying flashing those numbers in front of everybody. There is a very little difference between me and ZO: I AM INVOLVED!!!

I wouldn't dare talking about the phtotography business becasue I AM NOT INVOLVED. I would only regurgitate the half truth journalists which are also NOT INVOLVED put in front of me.
