Anyone ever asked themselves why, if liberals truly care about education, they continue to press so hard for continuing a failed system? I think the experience here in Chicago is probably mirrored in other innner city school systems. The Democrat Party controls the school systems. They exist to give jobs to the politically connected in the party, who in turn spend a lot of time working to maintain the party's power. Contracts are let to political supporters who rake off large sums of money and continue to plow some of that back into elections. It is purely about having political power and maintaining it. The same is true of public housing. The poor blacks get schools that barely function and housing that doesn't function. No wonder that we find school physical plants in poor condition. The party supporters who are paid to maintain them do not. I see this repeated in the New York City schools and would bet you can find it elsewhere.
