I'm not sure if you could count children who were born because of the statements and actions of Mother Theresa's followers to be "born as a direct result of Mother Theresa's statements against birth control", but even if it is indirect I conceed that MT is as morally responsible for something that she taught through her followers as she is for something she taught directly. So while technically it may not be as a "direct" result, that fact isn't all that important in the context of the overall discussion.

Your original statement talked about "to bring these poor children into the world to live and die in the most brutal conditions", so only children that lived and died in the most brutal conditions would count. You still might reach the millions range but its hard to establish this for sure. Not only is it difficult or impossible to tell exactly why someone made a decision years ago but also determining exactly what "the most brutal conditions" mean is somewhat subjective.

If the effect of MTs statements in India did cause millions of children to be born and live horrible lives of poverty in "the most brutal conditions" I would imagine it would have to be at the very low end of the millions range. India is not a Catholic country, and even in Catholic countries statements against birth control by the church are frequently ignored by Catholics.
