Brazil, Apr 27, 2001 (Gazeta Mercantil/SABI via COMTEX) -- The Brazlian
subsidiary of Alcatel will introduce a considerable quantity of operational
measures to cut down expenses. The first one will be in the telephone sector
apart production. These measures aim to keep its sales in Brazil, that in the
first fiscal semester rose by 35% to R$277mil. Subsequently, Alcatel's
operational results grew from R$1mil in the first half of 2000 to R$14mil, and
the company intends to enlarge its sales between 5% and 10% for the whole 2001
period.
