Schools have plenty of problems. Teachers without credentials, teachers without any concept of classroom management, administrators who turn their backs on problem solving and support parents out of fear of lawsuits. Administrators that manage the assets of their schools poorly and promote athletics over academics and schools boards that are fixated on appearances and not results.

The local school district here has complained for years about not having enough money to repair roofs etc. and now they're proposing 3 new gymnasium buildings for the middle schools.

Blue-slipping students for unacceptable behavior is a mere round trip to the counselor's office where they get the briefest of admonitions and are returned to class......unchanged and indeed unchallenged.

Sure, parents are to blame, there are certain shared rules of behavior that are necessary to turn a school into a civil community, but you cannot desert those who would attempt this and serve the undeserving.
