Mq, that's a very cool post. You forgot to add that the European service providers must want to ensure the profitability of Ericy, Nokia and co, so they want to pay the extra royalties that the GSM Guild [GG] is trying to fix them up with. GG [George Gilder] thinks that QUALCOMM should reduce their royalties to enhance the attraction of CDMA. But the VW40 proponents [the GG] are happy to charge 5% for their bells and whistles, so how come Mighty Q! can't charge the same for the technology which matters?

Has GG told the GG to cut their royalties to make VW40 attractive? I doubt it.

Q! should RAISE their royalties. And they will be doing that as we speak for Johny-come-latelies such as Nokia, who probably hope that they can just extend their really cheap old royalty agreement with Q! into VW40. But Q! will be telling them that 1% or whatever the really cheap rate that Motorola and Nokia got by being in the CDMA game back in 1990 isn't acceptable for the latest technology. Nokia will have to pay 7%! Yay!! That's the new rate for anyone who hasn't signed up yet...I hope.

Actually, that could be the special rate for Nokia alone for cdma2000 as it's all Q! technology unlike VW40 which requires an all for one and one for all common royalty rate.

All guesswork - I have no idea what the actual rates are.

Anyway, that was indeed a very cool post and you must have lots more 'cool post' awards than Tekuboi-san now. Congrats...
