If the effect of MTs statements in India did cause millions of children to be born and live horrible lives of poverty in "the most brutal conditions" I would imagine it would have to be at the very low end of the millions range. India is not a Catholic country, and even in Catholic countries statements against birth control by the church are frequently ignored by Catholics.

I think perhaps our understandings are not that far apart on this specific issue. The "poorest of the poor" however, do not often have a lot of principle to stand on, when someone offers them hope--and a point of view...
