Don't be surprised if Q has lots of OFDM irons in the fire. Absolutely. It seems unrealistic to assume that the engineers at Qualcomm are just hoping that OFDM simply goes away. OFDM is in fact a very interesting way of addressing the multipath/equalization problem but the tradeoffs are still complex. When you reduce these things to practice there are no real magic bullets, it's always a lot of hard engineering work to get anything right.
