Big difference between English and Chinese versions concerning UMC.

English Version:

<<Taipei, May 2 (Bloomberg) -- United Microelectronics Corp., the second-largest chipmaker on a contract basis, said it will make processors for Advanced Micro Devices Inc., which has more orders than it is able to meet with its own chip factories, the CTech Web site reported, citing UMC President Peter Chang.>>

The above text seems to emphasize that (1)demand for AMD CPU is exceeding supply and (2)such demand and supply imbalance is occuring NOW.

But

The Chinese Version ctech.com.tw is mainly a story for UMC's fab production wins from SUN, Vitesse and AMCC.

Concerning AMD, the article says "it is understood that, due to insufficient production in its high end CPU, AMD has promised UMC that portions of new generation CPU WILL be produced by UMC."

The Chinese original version does not indicate the demand/supply imbalance as suggested by the English text.

It's not a done deal yet, more like in Letter of Intent stage.
