ThermaFreeze Launches Bio-Remediation and Treatment of Highly Carcinogenic of Chromium VI MOBILE, Ala., May 1, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ThermaFreeze, Inc., (TM) (OTC: BB chart, msgs THFZ chart, msgs) is pleased to announce that its Glasgow based subsidiary has made significant progress in it's Chromium VI Bio-Reduction Project. ERS was recently awarded a contract to develop a biological solution for the City of Glasgow, Scotland's sites contaminated with hexavalent chromium.
Andrew Mackenzie, Managing Director of ERS, said today "Laboratory testing was now complete and preparations for the field scale demonstration were being made. It is anticipated that a field demonstration will be completed during the next 4 months. The conversion of highly carcinogenic and toxic Chromium VI to inert Chromium III by biological reduction would effectively treat soils in-situ reducing the costs associated with excavation and removal as well as eliminating the associated environmental and health risks."
"This dangerous chemical has become a complex problem in many places of the world because the only proven effective treatments require removal of contaminated soils for isolation of the Chromium VI," states Dr. Loven, Chairman of Thermafreeze. "As it is often found in the soils beneath major industrial or urban areas, the problems of solid removal can be insurmountable.
We are extremely pleased to have this opportunity to introduce a new, compelling technology capable of rendering this valuable industry necessary chemical into a harmless by-product while it is still in the soil.
This initiative is representative of the synergies of our roll up strategy and demonstrates our ability to attract leading edge technology into our group for commercial application and exploitation. We anticipate ongoing news and developments in advanced bio-remediation and treatments of various strategic environmental pollutants in the following weeks."
