Jim, RE: Back when I went to college...if you were a hard science major you were lucky to get a job paying much..often you had to stay in academics...
On the other hand, if you majored in something that directly specialized in extracting money from humans, you could get rich.

I was a chemistry major. All of my offers in the field were PhD track.

So instead, I went to business school and attempted to learn to extract money from humans. Fortunately, they managed to teach me a few other things, because I stunk at extracting money from anyone.
