Larry, it is goodwill and good business, and is another reason why the founders of this company are held in such high esteem by the Sudanese. Regarding the peace as it is developing...it has the support of the pope, leaders have the right to be governors, a Christian vice-president is areed upon, 4 out of 16 cabinet posts go to South, a free referendum is guaranteed on self-determination, under the scrutiny of any appropriate international agency, Muslim laws do not apply to non-Muslims, rather, British common law will apply, and a disproportionate share of oil revenue will go to the South for infrastructure development. These are the facts as they have been related to me. I will be quite surprised if this thing drags on much longer. Meanwhile, up here in Canada, we continue to gnash our teeth about whether Quebec should be a distinct region or not...never mind they speak a French and have a distinctive civil code. Now we have a newly elected opposition leader who went out of his way to tell Quebeckers they are no different than anyone else, despite the obvious irrationality of the argument. And the West bought it! |
