Bush and Rumsfeld's latest pronouncements on the missile shield, besides being a boondoggle for defense contractors and all their old friends from the Pentagon who now operate as consultants and lobbyists, will drive Russia, whose economy is already in the dumper, to reinstate weapons development as well as driving them further into alliance with China, which is already giving us fits in Asia and will continue to do so at every opportunity. What they should be doing is driving wedge issues between Russia and China to undermine their alliance.
