Very OT and looking for a fight.

Did anyone see the Rather interview with Kerry and Klann last night? I am curious as to folks attitudes toward what happened in Vietnam then. If you REPLY, please state your age first.

My gut feeling from the interview is that what happened there that night according to Klanns story, justified every action I took as a young man in opposition to the war including, like clinton, legally ducking the draft. Vietnam war vets deserve compassion from us for what they were compelled to do and the damage it did to many of their psyches. I always felt guilty about not going because i felt someone went in my place. It took last nites piece to remind me that not only did I not want to get killed over there, I also did not want to live my life after having participated in some of the horrific stuff that went on there. I know the Viet Cong were miserable bastards and fought on a level that shocked us all. That probably is the best reason not to intervene in someone elses civil war. Our intentions were good and look what we got. #1 reason we should be wary of being the worlds policeman. #1 reason we should think twice before we settle all conflicts by precision bombing of major cities. And so on.
These are my earliest feelings and thoughts. I have yet to fully think this thru.
