patricia,

"Now when I boot up my system I actually got it to 84%!"

awesome! now you've got a little more to work with. perhaps the resources will not dwindle so fast, or so far... but then again, maybe they will.

the fred langa article that ed forrest linked for you is a definite must read. it may help you to retain some mem resources longer.

btw, from time to time, check back on the system configuration utility to see if any of the items you unchecked sneaked back in. for some reason there are a few applications that have a way of reappearing.

one more thing that may interest you, patricia...

here is a small, easy to install program that is worth its weight in gold. StartupMonitor #reply-15509691

"StartupMonitor is a small utility that runs transparently (it doesn't even use a tray icon) and notifies you when any program registers itself to run at system startup. It prevents those utterly useless tray applications from registering themselves behind your back, and it acts as a security tool against trojans like BackOrifice or Netbus."

keep us posted. and you're welcome

:)
