I got there this time. There were three lines that started with TCP/IP properties. The first said 'Dial-Up adapter.' The second said 'Macronix Nix 98715 Family Fast Ethernet Adapter (ACPI) The third said 'Motorola Surfboard USB Cable Modem. Every time i click on them a disconcerting update installation takes place. I see there are multiples of these items there. I'll do a printscreen on whichever you think i should.... (BTW, re firewalls, I have a Norton Personal Firewall in the box here, a gift, that i never installed. Maybe I should do that in the new computer?)
