bill - DELL has done a nice job in the server business, but not quite as well as your post suggests. They have been in the server game since 1995 - more like 6 years. 2 years ago they were #4, not #10. Now they are #2, not #1. CPQ still sells twice as many servers as DELL on a units basis, and 4 times on a revenue basis. DELL still has a ways to go - and has made almost no progress in the high end of that market, where they are #5 behind CPQ, IBM, HP and Sun.
