personally, i'd go with what the etrade tech told you, if only because market trader is their program, right?
plus, as recently stated, i'd look to the langa article for tips and tweaks.
then there's increasing your ram, which i know some here have already suggested. make sure your system can process all the memory you can add. sometimes there is physically room for memory sticks on the motherboard that the system can not handle, and the opposite effect (slowed performance) is experienced. this is a topic that we have been touching on lately. if you were not reading those posts, remember the search feature. all kinds of good stuff pops up on our cl thread when you use search.
beyond that, there's the operating system to look at. win2000pro is always an option, and it handles crashing and memory resources better than win98.
